Lukas von Orelli holds a doctorate in law and a degree in economics. He gained his first professional experience in asset management at a small private bank in Basel. After that, further professional stages led him to a court of law and to the bar, where he was admitted to the bar. After setting up a foundation to support young entrepreneurs, Lukas von Orelli became Managing Director of the VELUX STIFTUNG in Zurich, a medium-sized international foundation in 2004. He continues to engage in various foundation and association committees. In particular, since 2010 on the board of SwissFoundations, where he has held the presidency since 2016. Lukas von Orelli is one of the pioneers in the Swiss foundation sector in the implementation of sustainability and impact investing approaches. With SwissFoundations, he has been advocating for years for greater financial literacy among foundations and the inclusion of assets in foundation impact.
