Dorian van Raale is an Associate Director within the Forestry Division at Gresham House covering acquisitions and asset management of forestry and broader natural capital strategies internationally. Gresham House is a specialist alternative asset manager with a focus on global themes such as Natural Capital and the Energy Transition, and ranks among the world’s top ten natural capital managers by asset value.

Prior to Gresham House, Dorian was at Sail Ventures, an alternatives investment firm based in the Netherlands. There, he was part of the founding team of a global climate fund, the &Green Fund, focused on sustainable agriculture and forestry which has since scaled to over US$ 400 million in capital committed. As an investment specialist in a lean team, Dorian was primarily focused on growing Sail’s portfolio and was responsible for structuring investments with embedded ESG features across a spectrum of enterprises, from early-stage ventures to large listed corporations.

Dorian is also affiliated with the University of Oxford’s Environmental Change Institute, where he advises on financing and scaling investment into Nature Based Solutions. He holds a first-class Bachelor of Business Science in Finance and Accounting, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (Hons) from the University of Cape Town, as well as a first-class MSc in Climate Change, Management and Finance from Imperial College London. He is also a CFA Charterholder.
