Stefan has been working in UNIDO for the past 20 years and currently serves as Head of UNIDO’s Sustainable Investments and Responsible Business Unit, Directorate of SDG Innovation and Economic Transformation. He has formulated and implemented a wide range of projects in areas of investment promotion, private sector development and sustainable supply chain development in various geographical regions. He has more recently spearheaded the development of a suite of novel and digital instruments for investment promotion agencies and institutions in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries related for SDG tracking of foreign direct investment (FDI) and investment pipeline development and packaging. He has co-authored the influential UNIDO “International Guidelines for Industrial Parks” and, as member of the Cross-Disciplinary Team on Industrial Parks (CDTIP), is actively expanding the suite of UNIDO’s technical support services for industrial park planning, development and promotion. He is also responsible to develop the next edition of UNIDO’s flagship software, the Computer Model for Feasibility Analysis and Reporting (COMFAR), and ensure its successful market launch.
Stefan is holder of a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Karlsruhe University and is holder of a PhD from Leipzig University, Germany on the topic of “Forms and Performance of Foreign Direct Investments in Sub-Saharan Africa”.
