Klaus Kastenhofer heads the “Klimawald” project at Caritas of the Archdiocese of Vienna with the aim of developing guidelines for improved forest management projects in the context of carbon removal and carbon farming frameworks. In addition, Klaus Kastenhofer has been an independent consultant at the sustainability cooperative Goalkeepers eG since 2014. The focus of his work is on the agricultural and forestry value chain. Klaus Kastenhofer has been involved in numerous sustainability initiatives, including the development of the Blue Planet sustainability label by REWE Germany and the non-profit foundation “Blühendes Österreich” (Blooming Austria). From 2007 to 2014, Klaus Kastenhofer was political director of the Austrian environmental protection organization GLOBAL 2000/Friends of the Earth Austria and a board member of Friends of the Earth Europe. Klaus Kastenhofer is a trained physician and entered the sustainability sector through his involvement with ecotoxicological issues and a biologist as a nurse.
