Ronald Würflinger has been committed to biodiversity, climate protection, and regional development for 20 years. Since 2016, he has headed the Blühendes Österreich BILLA Charitable Private Foundation. In this role, he has overseen more than 300 diverse projects in the areas of nature conservation, environmental education, agriculture, forestry, and hunting. Previously, he worked in regional management for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Wachau and was managing director of the Jauerling Nature Park. He studied history with a focus on environmental history at the Universities of Vienna, Klagenfurt, and Valladolid, as well as in Costa Rica. Würflinger and his projects have received numerous national and international awards, including the EU Commission’s NATURA 2000 Award. He is the founder and a board member of the Thermenlinie Model Region, Austria’s largest climate change adaptation, climate, and energy model region.
