Natalie de Wit‑Solounov is Head of Strategy at DEG – Deutsche Investitions‑ und Entwicklungsgesellschaft, a position she has held since 2022. Prior to this appointment, she led DEG’s Financial Institutions Debt Asia/EMECA department from 2017 to 2022, overseeing DEG’s lending activities to financial institutions across multiple emerging markets. Over more than twenty years, Natalie has built deep expertise in structuring, originating, and advising debt and equity investments in the financial and insurance sector as well as beyond, working with DEG as well as other leading development finance institutions, including KfW Development Bank and the World Bank.

Her professional experience spans a wide range of market cycles, geographies, and capital structures, with a strong focus on mobilizing private capital and supporting sustainable private sector growth in developing and emerging economies. In her current role, Natalie is responsible for shaping DEG’s strategic direction, including its approach to impact, climate, and scaled private sector investment.

Natalie holds a Master of Leadership in Sustainable Finance from Frankfurt School of Finance & Management(2025), in addition to a Master’s degree in International and Development Economics (2006) and a Master of Business Administration (2002).

DEG, founded in 1961 and a wholly owned subsidiary of KfW Group, is one of the world’s largest development finance institutions, with a portfolio of approximately €11.7 billion invested globally. DEG is currently executing its strategy “Impact. Climate. Returns.”, including a net‑zero 2040 pathway, and has embarked on a new strategy cycle aimed at significantly scaling annual commitments and private capital mobilization through 2030 under the agenda “Scaling Impact & Shaping Transformation.”
