Stephan Werner, age 48, joined Pax Asset Management AG in 2021 as Chief Risk & Compliance Officer and was appointed CEO in 2023. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Zurich and has completed advanced training in ESG Analysis and Sustainability at AZEK, Switzerland and the London School of Economics, United Kingdom. Stephan began his career at Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG in their Finance and Risk Management traineeship program. He later held various leadership roles in financial risk management and internal audit before joining Pax Group.

At Pax Group, Stephan has played a key role in integrating sustainability into the company’s investment strategy. As CRO, he was responsible for implementing robust risk and ALM frameworks and aligning them with long-term Sustainability goals. As CEO, he now oversees the strategic direction of the company, including the development of sustainable investment processes and the alignment of strategic asset allocation with ecological, social, and governance (ESG) principles.
