Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Stefan Schaltegger is professor of corporate sustainability management. He is head of the Centre for Sustainability Management (CSM) and the world-wide first MBA in corporate sustainability management (MBA Sustainability Management). According to the Stanford ranking of most cited researchers, Stefan Schaltegger has been among the two percent internationally most cited researchers in management and in environmental research (2020-2025). His research interests include corporate sustainability, sustainable entrepreneurship, concepts and methods of sustainability management, measurement and management of corporate sustainability performance (environmental and sustainability accounting, sustainability management control, Sustainability Balanced Scorecard, etc.) and the management of stakeholder relationships. Stefan Schaltegger is co-editor-in-chief of the journal Organization & Environment and member of the editorial boards of various international scientific journals in management, sustainability management and accounting. Stefan has received various research awards (incl. Environmental Award of the German Association of Environmental Management, International Federation of Accountants – IFAC), has served as member of various steering committees of the research programmes of the German Federal Ministry of Science and Education and the Swiss National Science Foundation. He was member of the Hightech-Forum for the development and implementation of the Hightech-Strategy of the German federal government (2015-2017). He has was vice president research of Leuphana University from 2006-2010.
