Philippe Rossel is a Principal based in Zurich. He joined Mercer in 2023 and has been in the financial services industry since 2007. As the European Alternatives Investment Director, he brings Mercer’s Alternative capabilities to clients in the DACH region, delivering best-in-class programs in private market and liquid Alternative strategies. He presents Mercer’s Alternatives capabilities, articulates their investment philosophy, and supports business development and commercial decisions for clients and prospects in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. He also contributes to the Alternatives investment team, stays updated on market developments, and delivers client communications.

Before this, Philippe worked for nearly four years as a Portfolio Manager Alternatives at Medpension vsao, one of the largest pension funds for medical doctors in Switzerland. In his role, he oversaw a diverse portfolio of Alternative investments, focusing on Private Equity and Infrastructure Equity. He implemented processes to enhance manager selection and monitoring, including sourcing, due diligence, execution, and ongoing monitoring. He contributed to generating innovative investment ideas and efficiently organized commitment and allocation planning, which were key aspects of his role. Philippe actively participated in decision-making committees, playing a significant role in shaping strategic decisions. He also led challenging projects such as commitment planning, reporting, and ESG development. Over two years, he has also served as a member of the Private Equity Commission of the Avadis Investment Foundation in Zurich. Philippe previously held various positions at Credit Suisse and J. Safra Sarasin in Bern and Basel. He is fluent in German and proficient in English and French.

Philippe holds an MBA in Finance – Asset Valuation and is a CAIA charter holder, affiliated with the Zurich chapter.
