Thom Rasche is Partner at Earlybird Health in Berlin and has been a Partner at Earlybird Health Management since 2014. He is responsible for healthcare investments across Health IT, Diagnostics, MedTech, and Digital Health, with a focus on fund management, portfolio construction, investment evaluation, and the strategic development of healthcare portfolio companies.

Before joining Earlybird Health Management, Thom was a Partner at Earlybird Venture Capital from 2003 to 2014, where he led the firm’s medical investments. His work included evaluating and structuring investment opportunities in the medical device sector, preparing investment memoranda for new and follow-on financings, and developing fundraising strategies for a dedicated healthcare fund.

Prior to his venture capital career, Thom spent more than 14 years at Johnson & Johnson Medical GmbH in various senior leadership roles, including Vice President, Managing Director, Global Marketing Director, and Sales Manager. Among other responsibilities, he served as Managing Director of ETHICON Endo-Surgery Germany, leading a 150-person organization with revenues of approximately EUR 80 million, and held management responsibility within Johnson & Johnson Medical GmbH, which had around 2,000 employees in Germany. His work covered global, European, and local leadership roles across anesthesia, surgery, and general medical supplies.

Thom has extensive board and transaction experience in the healthcare and medical technology sectors, including active board roles and successful exits in areas such as surgical technologies, cardiovascular therapies, patient monitoring, ultrasound, and medical devices.

He holds a Diplom-Kaufmann degree, MBA equivalent, with distinction in Business Administration from Leuphana University Lüneburg.
