Werner Hämmerle is responsible for investment and risk strategies for VIG insurance companies across Central and Eastern Europe, including the preparation and leadership of investment meetings, development of investment ideas, and regular group-level reporting and exposure analyses. He also contributes to the Tactical Investment Committee of the Austrian insurance companies and oversees FX hedging for dividend payments; since 2022, he has additionally been involved in active portfolio management for various portfolios.

Prior to VIG, he headed Institutional Business at UBS Global Asset Management in Vienna (2005–2009), focusing on institutional client acquisition and relationship management and working closely with key client teams across traditional and alternative asset classes. Before that, he served as Vice President in Institutional Sales at Deutsche Asset Management/DWS Austria in Vienna (2001–2005), responsible for institutional sales and client relationship management, including special fund structures with strategic partners.
